Sierra Fly Bench began with two lifelong influences: the quiet wilderness traditions of Sweden and the rugged beauty of California’s Sierra Nevada.

Our founder, David, grew up in Sweden where access to the outdoors is a fundamental value. In Scandinavia, nature isn’t a destination, it’s part of everyday life. That mindset carried naturally into a deep passion for fly fishing and backcountry exploration.

Years later, the Sierra Nevada became the perfect counterpart to those northern traditions. High alpine lakes, cold granite streams, and long miles of trail offered the same sense of solitude and connection found in the forests and waters of Sweden.

What started as a personal pursuit evolved into Sierra Fly Bench, a place dedicated to fly fishing, fly tying, and carefully selected backcountry gear built for people who value authenticity, simplicity, and wild places.
